Wrought iron
in Lecce.
Gates, railings, grilles, staircases, furniture and signs, hand-forged in Cosimo Sabetta's workshop in Squinzano. Bespoke work, from drawing to installation.
Iron, worked
the old way.
La Bottega del Ferro is the artisan forge of Cosimo “Mino” Sabetta in Squinzano, a few kilometres from Lecce. For over thirty years we have shaped heated iron, beating it by hand on the anvil, with the same care as in the past.
Every piece — a gate, a railing, a grille, a staircase or a simple furnishing element — begins with a drawing and a dialogue with architects, interior designers and private clients. We don't make mass-produced pieces: we build bespoke solutions, designed for their setting and made to last.
We work for homes, villas, masserie, businesses and public bodies across Salento, also restoring and maintaining the ironwork of the old buildings in historic centres. The tradition of forging meets a contemporary, sober and elegant aesthetic.
Guaranteed results
We consider a job finished only when it delivers exactly the result the client wants. We follow every commission from drawing to installation, with no shortcuts and no middlemen.
Forty years' experience
Master Cosimo Sabetta has worked wrought iron for over 40 years; La Bottega del Ferro has passed its thirtieth year, now joined by his sons Marco and Andrea and a close-knit team.
Care for the client
Whether an imposing work or a small job, our goal is the same: to make those who trust us happy, with listening, precision and punctuality at every stage.

A life on the anvil.
La Bottega del Ferro was born from the passion of Mino Sabetta, sparked at just eight years old in a small village workshop and nurtured throughout his life. At eighteen, hot metalworking took him to Turin, where for ten years he perfected the craft, creating works across Piedmont.
Back in Salento in 1990, he lit his forge; since 2003 he has worked in the artisan district of Squinzano, his home town, alongside his sons Marco and Andrea. Still today he forges by hand, hammer and anvil, working with architects and interior designers.
Design
We start from your idea, a drawing or even a simple hint. We study dimensions, style and setting together with architects and designers.
Forging
We heat the iron and beat it by hand on the anvil: traditional forging gives every element character and strength.
Finishes
Hot-dip galvanising, sandblasting and epoxy powder coating, or hand-antiqued finishes: we protect the work so it lasts.
Installation
We install the work ourselves, taking care of every detail of the assembly, for a perfect and safe result.
Materials and finishes that last.
Every piece is protected with treatments that ensure durability, even outdoors and near the sea: hot-dip galvanising against corrosion, sandblasting to prepare the surface and epoxy powder coating.
On request we make hand-antiqued finishes, ideal for historic centres and period villas, and more contemporary finishes for modern design projects.
The result is a wrought-iron work that combines beauty and strength, made to accompany your home or business for decades.
